WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?

Telehealth refers to the provision of therapy services utilizing remote electronic technology. In other words, your clinician sits at their office computer. You take your phone or computer to your living room, office, car, or other confidential location of your choice. You both log-on to a video conference platform. And bam… therapy at your fingertips!

BUT IS TELEHEALTH SECURE AND CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes. Catalyst uses a HIPAA-compliant platform that securely transmits data back and forth between therapist and client. We also encourage clients to choose a confidential location for telehealth sessions to prevent any unintentional disclosures to nosy children, parents, neighbors, or co-workers.

HERE’S THE OTHER CAVEAT:

You can sit on a chair, a couch, a yoga ball, or the ground for all we care. But you must be in the state of California. Catalyst clinicians are licensed within the state of California, meaning we are only able to provide therapy to clients who are physically located in the state of California.

OK, I’M IN. DOES CATALYST PROVIDE TELEHEALTH?

Yes. Catalyst Counseling, Inc is able to provide telehealth counseling when indicated as an appropriate method of treatment. Your clinician can review with you whether telehealth services would be fitting for your specific therapy needs. Click for information on scheduling.

ALSO, THIS IS KINDA COOL:

Maybe you aren’t typically a telehealth client, you prefer to come to our offices for in-person counseling. But your family has this super cool vacation to San Diego planned next month. You just don’t want to miss out on counseling while you’re gone. No problem. Telehealth allows for you to still meet with your clinician while you’re away and to then resume typical in-person therapy when you return. With your tan.

COVID AND TELEHEALTH

Although much of society has resumed their lives as they were “pre-COVID,” at Catalyst we remain sensitive to the impact of this illness and continue to remain vigilant. Telehealth is a fantastic tool that can be utilized to ensure that services can continue uninterrupted, even if a client or clinician were to test positive. (COVID sure has given a new meaning to “waiting on two pink lines”!)
